ED CHICOINE FOUNDER AUTHOR AND TEACHER
Four Decades of Listening to How People Create Change
For 41 years, Ed Chicoine worked as a chiropractor with approximately 15,000 people. Across those decades, one question continued to deepen: Why can people understand what would help them and still find themselves repeating the same response?
That question led Ed beyond surface-level advice and toward the relationship between brain predictions, nervous system state, inner narratives, emotional tension, identity and repetition.
Today, he brings those ideas together through InPowered Mindset, NIRM, speaking, writing and Ask AI-EDDY.

From Clinical Observation to Brain-Informed Education
Ed is a retired chiropractor with 41 years of professional experience. During his career, he became increasingly interested in why expectations, language, emotional state and perceived control appeared to influence how people experienced challenges and responded to care.
He noticed that people often described themselves through fixed stories: my body is broken, nothing works, this always happens to me, I have no choice. He also observed how emotional pressure could appear alongside physical tension and changes in behaviour.
Those observations led him to study brain function, predictive processing, neuroplasticity, regulation, release work, identity and the role of repetition. Writing InPowered Performance helped him organize these ideas into a clearer teaching framework.
THE ORIGIN OF NIRM
A Method Built Around the Gap Between Knowing and Doing
NIRM developed from a recurring observation: insight alone does not always create integration.
People may know the healthier choice, understand the better communication strategy and genuinely want a different result. But when an old prediction or emotional pattern becomes active, the familiar response may remain easier to access.
NIRM brings awareness, release, choice, aligned action and repetition into one process designed to help people move from resistance toward greater choice and flow.

A LIFE OF EXPLORATION
Learning Beyond the Office
Ed's understanding of responsibility, adaptability and human potential was also shaped outside professional practice.
Beginning in 1997, Ed and his wife Gaye travelled with their six children from Ottawa to the bottom of South America and back over three and a half years. Along the way, the family experienced different cultures, uncertainty, resourcefulness and the strength of shared purpose.
In 2011, the family completed a relay run of approximately 15,000 kilometres across Canada and the United States to promote personal responsibility for health and well-being.
These experiences reinforced a belief that people are capable of far more when meaning, responsibility, relationships and consistent action come together.
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
Science Story Practical Application and Philosophy
Ed's teaching style is calm, conversational and practical. He respects the intelligence and capability of the audience and does not position people as broken.
He uses brain science to create understanding, stories to create recognition, practical experiences to create application and philosophy to explore meaning and responsibility.
His central message is not that people need more pressure or more discipline. It is that they can learn to understand their internal state, regain access to choice and put the repetitions in until a more useful response becomes increasingly available.
